Our Therapy Dog Program is designed to ensure your dog is fully prepared to provide therapeutic support in hospitals, schools, and other public settings. Through structured training and real-world practice, your dog will gain the skills necessary to become a certified therapy dog and bring joy to those who need it most. Program Structure - 1. Initial Consultation & Temperament Evaluation. 2. Duration: 1 Hour. We'll assess your dog’s temperament, current skills, and suitability for therapy work. Based on this evaluation, we’ll create a personalized training plan to help your dog meet therapy standards. Obedience & Behavior Training - 1. Duration: 1 Hour per session 2. Basic Commands: Sit, stay, down, come, and leave it. 3. Calm Behavior: Teach your dog to remain composed in high-stress environments. 4. Gentle Interactions: Train your dog to interact politely with children and patients. 5. Distraction Training: Prepare your dog to stay focused in noisy or chaotic settings. 6. Polite Socialization: Refine manners around strangers and animals. 7. Long-Period Settling: Train your dog to settle for long periods during visits. 8. Handling Medical Equipment: Get your dog comfortable with wheelchairs, walkers, and other medical devices. Real-World Training & Socialization - 1. Duration: Varies We’ll expose your dog to real-world therapy environments, practicing protocols and desensitizing your dog to the public spaces they’ll work in, ensuring they’re comfortable and confident in diverse settings. Mock Therapy Dog Certification Tests - 1. Duration: 1 Hour These mock tests simulate real therapy dog evaluations. We’ll assess how your dog responds to people, unpredictable situations, and basic commands, providing feedback on areas for improvement. Final Evaluation & Certification Preparation - 1. Duration: 1 Hour In the final evaluation, we’ll review your dog’s progress and readiness for therapy work. You’ll receive personalized feedback and a clear plan to ensure your dog passes the official certification exam.
