TM Canine Community – Group Lessons and Discussion

Hey everyone — quick update! There will be no vote for this week’s group session since I’m keeping things local due to some unexpected truck issues. The U-joint is going out and causing serious shuddering, and I need to get it into the shop Monday before it leads to a drivetrain failure.

We’re meeting on Tuesday instead of Thursday this week because my stepson has a school event Thursday night.

We’ll start meeting at 5:30, but won’t officially begin until 5:45 so there’s plenty of time to let the dogs decompress, settle in, and wait for any latecomers.

Hey everyone! The majority voted to focus on long leash work, so that’s what we’ll be working on! A few had different preferences, but majority rules. Please keep your dog on a 4-6 foot leash until we transition to long leash exercises.

TM Canine Community Group Event Announcement

When: Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 29th @ 6 PM

Where: New Smyrna Beach “ Publix Shopping Center, off SR-44”.

Thanks to everyone who voted! Instead of meeting at the Brannon Center again, we will switch things up this time. We are heading to the Publix Shopping Center. Look for the area near where KFC used to be (by Firehouse Subs and Starbucks, not near the bank or Publix itself).

Feel free to park anywhere in the lot, but Ill be parking near Firehouse Subs by the empty KFC building.

We’ve chosen Riverside Park/Brannon Center as our training spot! Here’s the plan:

📍 Meeting Point:

• If there’s no event at the Brannon Center, we’ll meet in the Brannon Center parking lot.

• If there is an event, find parking along the street or under the bridge, and we’ll gather in the most well-lit area of Riverside Park.

This location offers great lighting, plenty of space, and a beautiful setting for training!

🐾 TM Canine Community Event – Monday, December 16th 🐾

Join us tomorrow at 6:00 PM in New Smyrna Beach for our final TM Canine Community event before Christmas! 🎄

We’ll be meeting at the New Smyrna Sports Complex off Turnbull Bay Road, near the New Smyrna Beach Garden Club, where we’ve done plenty of training before. (It has been lit up all last week when I’ve drove past at night!)

🌟 Focus for the Night: Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Skills 🌟

We’ll practice and refine the CGC tasks, and if anyone feels ready to certify, I’ll set aside some time to conduct the test. Everyone else can watch and learn what to work on.

If no one’s up for certifying, we’ll go over the 10 CGC tasks (listed below) and create scenarios tailored to what YOU and your dog need help with.

This week’s TM Canine Community Event is shaping up to be a fun one! We’ll start with general training, including leash walking, recall, and obedience skills.

If the workout equipment area is available and empty, we’ll switch things up and focus on agility and confidence-building exercises. We’ll work on getting the dogs to hop up, place down, and explore different surfaces to boost their comfort and skills!

It’s a great little spot for some engaging, hands-on training.

📢 TM Canine Community Event Reminder! 📢(10/28)

Join us this Monday, October 28th, at 6:00 PM for our TM Canine Community Event! We’ll be meeting at Coraci Sports Complex in Port Orange (5200 Coraci Blvd, Town West subdivision). I’ll be parked just outside the gates at the park entrance—look for us there! From there, we’ll walk and train around the complex, working on skills in a real-world environment.

Please Note: There will be soccer games in the area, so let's be mindful of the kids’ hard work on the field. If you’re not fully confident in your dog’s ability to stay calm and maintain safe interactions, please consider sitting this one out. Our goal is to keep the atmosphere respectful and low-stress for everyone involved.

🐕 TM Canine Community Update: Two Special Events This Week! 🐾

This Monday, we’re hosting a TM Canine Community Event! 🐾 In addition to the usual training and socialization, we’ll be conducting a mock Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. If you’re interested in testing, please message me directly, as we’re limiting the test to just three dogs. Afterward, we’ll wrap up the evening with a fun and relaxing pack walk along the scenic grounds. Whether you're preparing for the CGC test or just want to get out and train with a supportive group, this is the perfect opportunity! 🐶✨

TM Canine Community Event – Tomorrow Night!

This is a great opportunity to work on your dog’s training in a real-world environment. Make sure your dog has gone potty before arriving, so we can all focus on the fun and learning!

**Event Cancellation Announcement** 🚨

Due to the unexpected bad weather, we have to cancel tonight’s TM Canine Community Group Event with RUN-N-Paw. 🌧️ Safety always comes first for our dogs and handlers, and we wouldn’t want to risk it!

But don't worry! RUN-N-Paw will be joining us at next week’s event, on **Thursday, August 29th at 6:00 PM** at the same location. 🐾

If you registered for this week but cannot make it next week, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if you are able to attend next week, as all those signed up for this week will get priority. 🙏

📍 Location: Open field south of the airport and immediately north of Lost Lagoon (restaurant).

🔒 Important: Please bring a safety measure to ensure your dog does not get loose, as we will be training close to US1.

🚀 We might get some extra excitement with planes taking off and landing, but the shaded open field will be a fantastic spot to work on AKC Canine Good Citizen skills!
